I adore galaxy art and painting flower illustrations, so this motive is a mix of both! Watercolor galaxy meets a peony flower.

I tried to show each step, even though it’s a slow process. Most watercolor galaxies use a lot of water (wet on wet technique) but since I used a greeting card paper that wouldn’t work… Instead, I used a lot of layers with medium water use. If you have paper laying around that’s just not quite good enough for wet-on-wet painting, you might give this technique a try!

* Painted in Winsor & Newton watercolors
* White layer added with Shinhan Watercolor and a white gel pen
